The Spay/Neuter Month is expected to cost approximately $15,000. Several fundraising opportunities hosted by U2SA will be announced in the coming month in support of Spay/Neuter Month. All donations to U2SA are tax-deductible and can be made in person in care of Dutch’s Daughter Restaurant located in Frederick Maryland or on the U2SA website at

Uniting 2 Save Animals and Lonely Hearts Animal Rescue, along with The Frederick County Humane Society held the first ever free spay/neuter month in October 2015.  We received over 600 pit bull spay/neuter applications.  In fact, response to the program was so overwhelming that spays and neuters were scheduled into February 2016.  The second spay neuter month, held in February 2017, brought over 150 spay and neuters.

Statistics show that for every dog or cat spayed or neutered, there are 20 less unwanted, euthanized pets in the United States. If I can help one dog or cat get spayed to prevent 20 euthanized animals, I’m going to. Even though I have rescued a number of dogs that are now a part of my family, we are limited to the number of animals we can personally care for. However, as a community, there is no limit to the number of animals that we can help.

Uniting to Save Animals, U2SA, was established in October, 2011 as a private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is an all-volunteer organization with 100% of all donated proceeds applied to program aid. U2SA’s mission is to reduce the number of unwanted, homeless pets in the Frederick Maryland area by offering a free, high volume spay/neuter program for individuals and families who meet certain income guidelines. A low-cost program also exists for those who do not qualify for the free program.
