U2SA adoption counselor will help you find the right match based on your lifestyle, household,
and preferences.

Adopting Saves TWO Lives!
When you adopt a rescue animal, you give that animal a second chance while helping make
room for another animal in need.
Adopting Can Save You Money
Many shelter and rescue animals have already been spayed or neutered, vaccinated,
microchipped, and received other necessary veterinary care. Some may also have received basic
training or socialization.
Help Fight Puppy Mills
Adopting from a reputable rescue or shelter helps reduce the demand for puppies produced by
irresponsible and inhumane breeding operations.

When you adopt, you’re not just saving a life—you’re gaining a friend and giving an

Thank you for your interest in adopting from us! Our goal is to make the perfect match
for both our rescue dogs and your family. We review every application individually to
ensure a safe, happy, and lifelong bond.
Please Note: All applicants must be 21 years of age or older to apply.
Step 1: Browse Our Available Dogs
Look through our list of wonderful dogs below to find a pup that matches your
household, energy level, and lifestyle.
Step 2: Submit the Adoption Application
Fill out our online application completely.
Our adoption coordinator will reach out to you quickly.
Our turnaround time from submission to initial contact is usually less than 24 hours,
and never more than 48 hours.
Step 3: Interview and Reference Checks
We will conduct a friendly interview with you to discuss the dog you are
applying for. During this stage, we will also verify your personal and
veterinary references to ensure existing pets are up-to-date on standard care.
Step 4: Virtual Home Visit (When Needed)
If required for the specific dog, we will schedule a quick, virtual video
walkthrough of your home. This helps us ensure the environment is secure
and hazard-free before the dog arrives.
Step 5: Meet and Greet
Once your application is approved, we will arrange a time for you (and any
resident dogs) to meet your potential new pup in person to ensure a great
initial connection.
Step 6: Two-Week In-Home Trial
If the meet-and-greet goes well, you can take the dog home that very same
day! To ensure a perfect fit for everyone, we provide a 2-week in-home
trial visit before formalizing the adoption paperwork and collecting
adoption fees.

Our goal is to find the right match — not simply the quickest match.
The adoption fee helps offset the cost of the veterinary care provided to our dogs before
adoption. Depending on the dog, this may include spay/neuter, vaccinations,
microchipping, preventatives, and other necessary medical care.
Our goal is to keep adoption fees reasonable while recovering a portion of the
significant costs involved in caring for each dog.
No! We do not have a specific geographic adoption area. We are willing to work with
adopters and other rescues to give our dogs the best possible chance of finding a
loving, safe home.
Because every situation is different, your adoption coordinator can discuss
transportation and other arrangements with you during the application process.
Absolutely! Many of our dogs are adopted into homes with other pets. We will consider your existing pets, their personalities, and the dog you are interested in when determining whether it may be a good match.
A meet-and-greet with your current dog may be required before an adoption is
finalized.
Yes. Families with children are welcome to apply. We will consider the ages of the
children, the dog's temperament and history, and the overall household when
determining whether a particular dog is a good fit.
Yes. Living in an apartment or condo does not automatically prevent you from adopting. The important thing is finding a dog whose size, energy level, exercise needs, and temperament are appropriate for your living situation.
That’s completely okay! Our adoption coordinators are here to help you make an informed decision. We encourage you to ask questions about a dog’s personality, energy level, behavior, history, and needs before making a commitment.
We encourage adopters to meet a dog whenever possible. The details of a meet-and-greet will depend on where the dog is currently located and the circumstances of the adoption. Your adoption coordinator will explain the process.
Our dogs can find homes quickly, so this sometimes happens. If the dog you applied for is no longer available, we encourage you to look at our other available dogs. Your adoption coordinator may also be able to suggest another dog who could be a good match for your family.
Dogs receive veterinary care appropriate to their age and individual circumstances
before adoption. This includes pay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, flea/tick
prevention, heartworm prevention, and other medical care. Your adoption coordinator can provide specific information about the medical care a particular dog has received.
We provide adopters with the information we have available about each dog. Because many rescue dogs come to us with limited or unknown histories, we cannot always know everything about their past.
We encourage adopters to ask questions and share any concerns with their adoption coordinator before making a decision.
We want every adoption to be a successful, lifelong match. If serious problems arise after adoption, please contact U2SA rather than simply giving the dog away or taking the dog to a shelter. We will discuss the situation with you and determine the appropriate next steps.
Every adoption is different. The time required depends on the dog, the number of applications we receive, the information needed to review your application, and the logistics of arranging a meet-and-greet or transport.

Our priority is finding the best possible match for each dog. An application may not be approved for many reasons, including the dog's specific needs, your household, existing pets, lifestyle, or other circumstances.
An unsuccessful application does not mean you would not be a wonderful
adopter—it may simply mean that particular dog was not the right match.
